Running Music - Podcasts

I've been getting questions about what music I listen to during my C25K program...

So I know it's someplace too... here goes.

Ullrey C25K podcast : www.ullreys.com/robert/Podcasts/page4/files/category-7.html

PodRunner podcasts

It's techno type music but that what I like during a run. If I listen to my regular music I tend to slow up and speed up depending on the song.  I like being a little more consistent.

Lest we forget....

Although I, along with the majority of the world, am excited that Barack Obama is our President-elect, we CANNOT forget that Bush still has his time within the White House.  Unfortunately he appears to be hell-bent on giving the American People a few last "screw you"s on his way out.

I truly wonder if President Bush has the decency to feel ashamed of what he has subjected this country to in the last eight, and particularly last four, years.
"Dear Mr. President"
Pink (feat. Indigo Girls)

Dear Mr. President,
Come take a walk with me.
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me.
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly.

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street?
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep?
What do you feel when you look in the mirror?
Are you proud?

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why?

Dear Mr. President,
Were you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
How can you say
No child is left behind?
We're not dumb and we're not blind.
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell.

What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away?
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay?
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine.

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye?

Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh

How do you sleep at night?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Dear Mr. President,
You'd never take a walk with me.
Would you?

"Superwoman"

Everywhere I'm turning
Nothing seems complete
I stand up and I'm searching
For the better part of me
I hang my head from sorrow
state of humanity
I wear it on my shoulders
Gotta find the strength in me

Cause I am a Superwoman
Yes I am
Yes she is
Even when I'm a mess
I still put on a vest
With an S on my chest
Oh yes
I'm a Superwoman

For all the mothers fighting
For better days to come
And all my women, all my women sitting here trying
To come home before the sun
And all my sisters
Coming together
Say yes I will
Yes I can

Cause I am a Superwoman
Yes I am
Yes she is
Even when I'm a mess
I still put on a vest
With an S on my chest
Oh yes
I'm a Superwoman

When I'm breaking down
And I can't be found
And I start to get weak
Cause no one knows
Me underneath these clothes
But I can fly
We can fly, Oh

Cause I am a Superwoman
Yes I am
Yes she is
Even when I'm a mess
I still put on a vest
With an S on my chest
Oh yes
I'm a Superwoman

Seriously, in this day and age, we still need this much change?

Seriously, in this day and age, we still need this much change? I sometimes wonder how much progress we've made?  With the upcoming election and my own awareness of racial hesitancies within my own group of friends, I have been leaning heavily on my attempts at openmindedness. positivity, and minimizing the negativity that I bring into the world.  I truly believe that only with knowledge and openness and hard work can we really start to create a world in which we don't perpetuate the cycle of discrimation.  A world in which no one feels that they have the right to discriminate because they have been discriminated against.

Thinking about that on the drive home the other day.  Juanes' song Bandera de Manos came on. I'm seriously loving the Random function on the IPod.  I felt the lyrics were appropriate.  So in case you haven't heard the song, here it is. I'm still looking for a good translation of it into English for those of you who aren't Spanish readers :)

Bandera De Manos - Juanes
Hagamos todos, una bandera con manos negras
Una bandera con manos blancas,
por un mundo mejor en este momento
Hagamos todos, una bandera con manos mestizas,
Una bandera con manos inmigrantes
por un mundo mejor

Ya, que estamos cansados
de tantas historias vencidas
tantas promesas nunca cumplidas

y asi, siembran dolor

Hagamos todos una solo bandera... todos
Derribemos fornteras, todos...
por un mundo mejor

En este momento sembremos paz
más justicia más dignidad
libertad yo naci igualdad....
por un mundo mejor

Ya, que estamos cansados
de tantas historias vencidas
Tantas promesas nunca cumplidas

y asi, siembran dolor
y compran arsenales
y asi siembran dolor.

Just some food for thought for today : )
