The 6-month mark

So 6 months ago, on a most beautiful (and super hot) summer day, I married my best friend and have been happy ever since.  We've made it and although we're still working on unpacking the "other" bedroom we're getting it done :) we are getting our life together-together.    So although SOMEONE likes to burrito himself in the comforter, I'm still happy that I chose him to be mine.  I love you, Steve!

And so is it done....

.... I know I haven't posted in a while but the wedding was great! the honeymoon, fabuloso! and many more details and pictures to come! PROMISE!!!

A month

Wow, has it only been a month?  It has flown by so quickly and the wedding is now less than two weeks away.  All of the planning and checking off the To Do list has afforded me and Steve some down time in these last two weeks.  Enough to run around and swim in the ocean over the long weekend, enough to forget to reapply and turn more pink than brown.  But the duckies are lining up in their rows. The last few, last items have been ordered and are on their way. The honeymoon is being finalized.  And I came home to roses today after picking up my gown :) It's a good day!

The Mountain of Little Things

Now that we have all of the big things covered:  location, cake, photag, DJ, gown, (Steve's even going today to go to look at suits)... now it's onto the mountain of the "little things"... we have our guestbook (check), placecards and favors (check), cake topper (check) and now we're just looking into the ring pillows, pens (for the guestbook), table markers, music list for the DJ, seating chart, random accessories for me and Steve, gifts for the folks who have been super super generous and wonderful to us, marriage license (not a little thing but it's on the "random" to do list).... so with just about a month to go (AHHHH!) we're getting it done... Yeah...

We're going to have a super cool yo party... yeah... now if I could only finish unpacking all of the boxes in the computer room...

ah well, baby steps, baby steps :)

There's stress and then there's the "I can't believe all of my hair hasn't fallen out" Stress...

Yes, I'm super excited to get started with my life with Steve and of course, I'm enjoying planning the wedding and house hunting BUT and here's the big BUT ... HOLY CRAP!!! I haven't done laundry in about two weeks which apparently is just on the cusp of how long I can go without doing the laundry... at least Friday's are a bit more casual so I'm not too out of place with my glitter rocker T-shirt :)

I spend all day at work and all night on the phone with vendors and signing more loan papers for escrow. I haven't worked out in two weeks. Luckily I'm not a stress-eater so I haven't gained the 10 lbs I thought I did. only 1lb...whoohoo... Oh and did I mention, Steve's car got totaled so I'm the only one with a car right now... Yeah, I'm in complete shock that half of my hair isn't missing and DON'T get me started on the development of the last two days.

ANYWAYs, we're getting through it, some days I'm surprised it's night already. We're getting it done and it will all be worth it in a month and even more so in four months. We're motoring... catch you all on the other side.

Best Sister EVER!

Soooooooooooooo, I'm completely brain dead because I was going to write about this sooooooooooooooooooo long ago and boo on me :-P  I am just doing it today....

So, in case you all know, I have the BESTEST SISTER EVER... Cathy :)  (even though she still calls me Butthead :-P )
Anyways, we all know how much I love to be the center of attention :-P but it was time to get together for the east coast bridal shower which my sister very lovingly and attentively threw for me (at me... however you say it... hahaha) with the help of her family and of course, Mami.

I just wanted to put it out there that I think she did a great job! Go, CATHY! and I had super lots of fun and want to thank all of the folks who braved the snow to visit me :)

So they have been ordered... lalala... we have to go check them out and approve them on Saturday so that we can then get them engraved... :)  yeah...

Sooooooooooo now we have to work on the HONEYMOON :)  and shoes for me and a suit for him and the hair and (GASP!) makeup... we're still out on the makeup... it's hard for me... anyone who knows me knows that shade of red my face turns when makeup touches me :-P  it's an ALLERGY... I SWEAR hahahhaha

but back to the wedding...  oooooooooooo next we get to do Cake too... hmmmmmmmmmmmmm yummyummyummy.

but we're getting there :) slowly, surely, getting to that fabu day! Yeah, I'm excited... happy dance happy dance :)  yeah!

Yeah, so now we have our flowers.  Well we don't have them but we have the lady who will be making my beautiful flowers that I'll be holding and than my niece will probably be wacking her brother with on that special day! :) hahahaha

Registering is an odd experience

So, we made a big push at the whole registering thing... it's just about the oddest part of the whole wedding experience to date.  I mean, we went shopping for our future home which we don't have yet :) but at the end of the day after hours of "shopping", my truck is empty and my feet are killing me.

Both registry places said we didn't register for enough stuff but how much STUFF do two people need... that and they count screwy... if I register for 6 plates that should count as 6 things :-P or maybe it does, I need to look at that again.

But don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it, it was fun to pick stuff out and figure out color coordination stuff (thank god Steve and I agree on that sort of stuff... lord knows what would have happened if he tried to bring pink into my home :) hahaha).

But it's done, one more check on the checklist.  Now we just get to tweak it from the comfort of our home and the internet... yeah, internet.

So now, we get to turn loose the fam and friends so they can happily shop... whoo hoo!

PHOTAG PHOTAG PHOTAG!

Photag Photag Photag. Sooooooooooooo I am super excited because we get to check off one more thing of the "Vendors to hire for our fabulouso wedding" list :) ... YEAH... we have a Photographer... super cool guy... super cool album and just what we wanted for our special day!  So check, Photographer.... now we get to move onto the florist and suit for Steve and rings and honeymoon planning (which reminds me, I need to get Steve a passport application...)  and cake (can't forget the cake) and the registry -- need to get on that...

So now that you've gotten to read my ramblings ons :) happy dance of joy for the signing of the contract with the photographer... happy dance happy dance happy dance (previously known at the peanut butter and jelly dance -- yes, yes, yours truly had a special dance just for the PB&J hahahaha)

DJ DJ DJ DJ

Soooooooooooooooooooo we found a DJ we like.  We just need to review the contract ONE LAST TIME. to be Sure Sure. :) heehehehee... yeah... on vendor down... a whole lot more to go.. BUT we're close on the photographer and will be soon moving onto the florist and some other folks... YEAH... DJ DJ DJ!!! YEAH!!!!

Meetings and Meetings and 20 more meetings

Okay, fine, so it isn't THAT many meetings but we've got DJs and Photags this week... Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday...

and what, you ask, about Wednesday? well, we decided to take wednesday OFF and go see a play together... yeah!!!! Its's called Spring Awakening and it's playing over at the Ahmanson Theater.

Yeah, it should be fun but until then, DJs and Photags and Florists, OH MY! :)

YEAH. one step closer

So I've done i've picked and purchased my gown... lalalala... because you ALL know how much I LOVE to shop :-P I was dreading the gown shopping.  I just don't like close shopping in general but after a bad first dress shopping experience where I was abandoned in the dressing room in a dress that I couldn't get off on my own.  Yeah, that was fun... but thankfully the subsequent trips were much better.  Sooooooooooo last week I found a dress I really really really really really like :) soooooooooooooooooo Today I ordered it ... YEAH... Wedding gown... you should DEFINITELY ask my sister to sing you the wedding gown song (yes, yes, she DOES have a song for everything) :)  haahahahaa YEAH GOWN!!!

We may have a winner.....

.... so I began the "dreaded" :-P bridal dress shopping extravaganza. Well I actually took a first shot at dress shopping some weeks back and had such a bad experience that this was the first time I decided to try again. so off I went with Anna (future sister-in-law) to the local David's Bridal and dress after dress after dress (I was even attacked by one of the dresses as it grabbed a piece of hair and just wouldn't let go... that was an interesting position to be in... but atleast I didn't fall over, jeebus :D ) I actually found two I REALLY REALLY like.  and of those two, one I REALLY REALLY REALLY like. so now I'm thinking it over. I sent some pics over to my mom, sister, and bridesmaids.  It'll be soooooooooooooooo cool if I decide after a few nights sleeping on it that I found my dress... happydancehappydance... whoohooo.  Those of you who know me KNOW how much I ENJOY dress shopping :-P (maybe in another dimension) but hey I actually went out there and found something I like. I am very much a happy lady right now.

I'll let you know :) I would post a picture but I'm a wee bit too superstitious about that. Steve does ocassionally surf the internet and heaven forbid he see the dress beforehand... :D heeeheee.  I'll keep you posted :)

Countdown to the happy day...

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo, we have a location (CHECK).  We have a date (CHECK).  We have an officiant ala Ship's Captain (CHECK).  We have a wedding party (CHECK).  We have ordered but yet to see the proofs of our SaveTheDates (or STDs as my sister likes to call them) (CHECK).

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo we just need a dress and a suit for steve and DJ and Photag and Cake and flowers and what else.... hmmmmmmmm.... shoes, we need shoes.... I was hoping to go shoeless but alas we chose ship over beach so shoes are on the list as well.  What else... hmmmmmmmmmm... DUH invitations and favors and center pieces (but we have a good idea as to what we want for those)...

we're on our way... i just need to consult my ToDo list that seems to grow the more I check things off.  YEAH, wedding day...
